  • This year, we will offer one team for high school students. If your student is in high school courses as of September 6, 2024 (grades 9-12), they will participate in the TBHMUN High School Team.

Students not yet in high school courses (grade 8 or younger) as of September 6, 2024 are not eligible to join any TBHMUN team.

Students who have already graduated from high school are not eligible to join any TBHMUN team.

As of the 2025-2026 season, TBHMUN has discontinued offering a Middle School Competitive Team due to limited resources and interest.

  • The TBHMUN High School Team is only open to students who are in grades 9-12 as of September 1, 2025. These students will meet weekly throughout the year to prepare for their competitions. They will participate in three conferences around the state of Florida which involve overnight stays at the conference locations.

    These conferences are;

    1) KnightMUN at the University of Central Florida in Orlando,

    2) GatorMUN at the University of Florida in Gainesville,

    3) NAIMUN at the Hilton Washington in Washington DC.*

    4) FHSMUN at the Hilton Altamonte Springs in Altomonte Springs.**

*Please note that NAIMUN is currently only being offered as a conference for returning delegates. New delegates are not eligible to travel to this conference. This policy is subject to change based on registration numbers and fundraising metrics.

**Please note that FHSMUN is currently only being offered as a default conference for new delegates. Returning delegates who wish to attend FHSMUN must pay an additional fee and indicate their desire to participate at the time of registration. This policy is subject to change based on registration numbers and fundraising metrics.

  • Yes. All students are required to attend all of the conferences and local committees that the travel team they register for will be competing at. Should a student need to withdraw for emergency purposes (e.g. illness, family emergency), they will not be entitled to a refund or credit of any kind.

  • All students on all teams will be expected to participate in at least 3 committees hosted by TBHMUN over the academic year. These one-day events are open to the public but are included in delegate registration fees for members of the High School Team.

The 2025-2026 TBHMUN Committee Schedule will be announced soon.

  • Students are encouraged to attend all meetings of their team. If they cannot attend for any reason, they will be responsible for completing any team assignments that were due and for learning any materials discussed during their absence on their own.

If students intend to use this program for course credit, attendance will be part of their grade.

  • All overnight travel by the TBHMUN High School Team will be chaperoned by at least 3 TBHMUN staff and parent volunteers.

  • No. All team fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. If you withdraw from the team or are removed from the team for violating team rules (e.g. disciplinary matters or failure to participate in any team activities), you will not receive a refund or credit of any kind.

  • Students are required to have the ability to reliably access the internet, email, Google Classroom, and Discord to successfully participate in any of our teams.

All of the above-named tools are mandatory for all students on all teams.

What does the High School team do?

Our High School Team is a team of homeschooled students that participates as a “delegation” at competitive High School Model UN conferences. Usually, institutional (public or private) schools send delegations that are made up of students from their schools, almost like sports teams. Our team allows homeschooled students to be on a team with their peers and compete against students from other schools, which is normally difficult or nigh-impossible.

Why do Model United Nations?

Model United Nations is unique in how broad, thorough, and intense it is in the way it prepares students to take on academic and real-world challenges. Students will learn and practice many skills, such as public speaking, debate, research, academic/formal writing, diplomacy and negotiation, leadership, and personal networking.

Although intense and demanding, Model UN is also very fun and rewarding!

At Model UN, you broaden your horizons. By learning and networking, you can be a part of the UN’s efforts to establish peace, secure human rights, and enable all people to live in dignity.
— Antonio Guterres, United Nations Secretary-General

increasing access to tbhmun

The COVID-19 pandemic forced us to transition from in-person team meetings to online training sessions. Those challenging times reminded us of the value of in-person learning while also opening our eyes to new opportunities that online resources can provide our delegates.

Now that we are back to normal, we combine both by anchoring our signature in-person meetings with additional pieces of training and resources provided to our delegates in an online format.

Receive training and opportunities

Our Travel Team delegates benefit from weeks of hands-on live training provided by our talented team of staff members, most of whom are successful former homeschoolers and delegates on the Model UN competitive circuit.

Our staff makes sure that every student receives the instruction and support they need to develop the skills needed to not only succeed but also excel at Model UN!
